Arianna: Ontem nós fomos passear no centro do Flamengo.
Feira Cultural Immersion Experience

Feira Cultural Immersion Experience

Feira Cultural Immersion Experience This month we had another of our famous Cultural Immersion Experiences. On these special outings, our teachers take students to everyday places in the lives of Cariocas (people from Rio) and enable students to interact with locals. This time, a group of students took a visit to a typical street market, or feira da rua. That’s right, the type of market with vendors selling fruit and vegetables from tents in the street. During this experience, students got to try out new flavours and taste typical Brazilian food, and to fall in love with traditional pastels and tapiocas. Imagine how much fun it was to get out and have this kind of experience! Students also took the chance to practice new customs, like chatting to vendors and haggling over prices. After all, Brazilians love to bargain! Another great thing about our visit is that our team from FalaBrasil could serve as facilitators in these new experiences. In other words, our teachers helped translate both the conversations and the customs that students encountered. During this afternoon full of new learning and sensations, students achieved their goals with developing linguistic abilities, social behaviour and appreciation of the diversity of Brazilian...
Niteroi Cultural Immersion Experience

Niteroi Cultural Immersion Experience

Niteroi  Cultural Immersion Experience Today was a day to develop Portuguese skills, get to know the charms of Niteroi and to have a cultural exchange between Brazillian teachers and our American and Indian students. The challenge: to go to a new city being guided only by a language that you’re still learning. The students rented a car and drove over the bridge to the city, where their only guidance was in Portuguese. At first they were a little afraid, but in addition to arriving easily in Niteroi, they discovered how Brazilians are patient and attentive when giving information to lost visitors. It’s amazing how liberating it is to be able to drive and ask directions! The first stop: MAC – the entire museum is incredible. Inside, outside, and from top to bottom. We stopped the car at Boa Viagem beach and walked to the museum. The view is incredible. I know that a lot of Cariocas and Niteroienses don’t like to hear this, but I have to say that the best view of Rio is without a doubt the one from Niteroi. We had a coffee in the café beneath the museum, where the view made up for the terrible service! Inside, the museum is small, but the whole concept is beautiful. It’s possible to admire the scenery of the bay and Rio de Janeiro, at the same time as interacting with works of art that can be played, touched, read and admired. Next stop: a suggestion by the locals In the museum, we asked locals for suggestions of places to visit. We chose the ocean beaches. It’s autumn...
In Loco – July

In Loco – July

16/07 4pm In Loco Party – for collaborative economy You already know that Fala Brasil supports projects that, like us, invest in creativity and innovation to create new social and cultural experiences. What you may not know is that within this framework is a great event, In Loco, that will take place next weekend (Saturday 16 July). In Loco was conceived to gather artists to perform their own original works for a contemporary audience that appreciates good music and art, in an event that promotes the collaborative economy. Going against the tide of soaring entertainment prices, the event is sustained by the voluntary participation of the artists, with the audience invited to contribute according to their means. The two last shows also followed a collaborative approach, and opted for full transparency with the funds collected. The In Loco organising team posted summaries of the event’s accounts on their Facebook page . So, if you like to hang out with cool, socially-aware people, in a cosy and intimate venue like Fala Brasil’s vila, consider yourself invited! Invite your friends through our Facebook page , and come along to hear some great music, mingle and visit our vila. Details When: 16 July at 4pm Where: Rua Gago Coutinho 06 Price: In Loco doesn’t ask an entrance fee. Guests are invited to make a contribution according to their means.
